Annarita McGovern has practiced law since 1997 in the areas of governmental liability, employment litigation, professional negligence, and general civil litigation. She provides full-service representation to governmental entities, insurance companies, publicly held companies and nonprofits. In this capacity she has represented clients in a wide range of contested litigation matters in Georgia and Tennessee, where she is also licensed and actively practices. Ms. McGovern has obtained successful outcomes for her clients throughout the Southeast and endeavors to provide in-service training where possible to limit her clients’ exposure to liability through proactive measures.

Annarita also has extensive experience representing governmental entities as outside counsel in a variety of areas, including professional liability, employment litigation and civil rights. In this capacity she has represented community service boards, school districts, county health departments, state-employed physicians, wardens, and directors and employees of state agencies in litigation. Ms. McGovern has extensive experience in the area of governmental liability, and has had tremendous success in obtaining successful outcomes for her clients, even when it requires making new law.

Ms. McGovern has litigated hundreds of cases to completion, has tried cases in state and federal court, has argued before both state and federal appellate courts, and has litigated within the United State Supreme Court. Ms. McGovern serves as outside general counsel for public, private, and nonprofit organizations and she speaks regularly on issues pertaining to her practice areas.

Prior to practicing law in Georgia, Ms. McGovern served as a staff attorney for Chief Judge Joe B. Jones on the Tennessee Criminal Court of Appeals, and as a law clerk to the Hon. Kay Robilio in the Memphis Circuit Court.
