Prior to practicing law in Georgia, Ms. McGovern served as a staff attorney for Chief Judge Joe B. Jones on the Tennessee Criminal Court of Appeals, and as a law clerk to the Hon. Kay Robilio in the Memphis Circuit Court. Ms. McGovern received her B.A. from the University of Virginia in 1991, and her J.D. from the University of Memphis School of Law in 1997, where she was on the Moot Court Board and Law Review.

Ms. McGovern has litigated hundreds of cases to completion, has tried cases in state and federal court, has argued before both state and federal appellate courts, and has litigated within the United State Supreme Court. Ms. McGovern serves as outside general counsel for public, private, and nonprofit organizations and she speaks regularly on issues pertaining to her practice areas.
